Session 5 and Conclusion The final session was the most important in ED403. This session focused on the e-facilitation practicum. My group, Aristotle started preparing for Moodle shell design in week 10 as we were the first to start the exercise in week 10. It was overwhelming for me to be part of the meeting conducted by the group and contribute towards the Moodle shell design. My group chose to develop learning materials and assessments on "Exploring ChatGPT in Higher Education". Each group member was required to make announcements, upload learning materials, and assess students at the end of the week. Similarly, in the following consecutive weeks, Group Downes (Week 12) and Group Illich (Week 13) continued with the exercise. While this was in progress, I continued to work on my e-learning case study and prepared myself for the final presentation scheduled for week 14 Friday. The focal point for the presentation was on online learning. Thus, it was very ...

Session 4. In short, session 4 was about eLearning. The teaching and learning platform has shifted significantly from one point to the next since 2000. Thus in the session, in week 7 I prepared a 5-minute MicroLed video on how I will be teaching my topic online. The feedback and response from my colleagues on my video was favorable. Their comment prompted me to improve to prepare well for my Microteaching scheduled for week 10. I also reviewed my group members' MicroLed video and learning some new things about their subjects was interesting. In week 8, we were supposed to discuss our e-learning case studies. It was also an interesting exercise. The topic that I chose was discussed thoroughly between the group members and finally it was accepted. Since the topic relates to my own subject area, I did not find a lot of difficulties in structuring my e-learning case study. During the literature review, it was very interesting to read the different views of authors on...

Session 3 reflection Session 3 focused on e-learning trends in higher education. In the first part, I learnt about "Learning Analytics" and its implication on the PICs. Learning analytics helps in the development of better pedagogies and learning outcomes. It also enhances classroom teaching which enables building a stronger collaboration between the teacher and the student. In addition to this, this session also elaborated on BYOD and mLearning. There are increasing capabilities of BYOD in the Pacific. With growing technology and investments in e-learning devices, it has been observed that a lot of students are now using their mobile phones and tablets in the classroom for learning purposes. Another trend that emerged recently in higher education is makerspaces. Through my observation in USP, small groups collaborations with a mentor, learning specialist and peers continue to grow. The session also focused on AR and VR. These two are considered to be new trends in hi...

Week 3 & 4 Reflection In the last two weeks, I learned many new things in ED403, and among them was one of the most important elements on which I have improved my practical knowledge. This was Open Educational Resources (OER). After going over the readings and videos, I was able to understand licensing and copyright issues. I have been using OER, but these two things play a lot of roles in the definition of OER. As part of my discussion forum activity, I browsed many OER and selected OpenStax, Khan Academy, CORE Econ, Open Textbook Library, and MIT Open Courseware. I selected MIT Open Courseware and Khan Academy for my evaluation exercise. I found out that a lot of instructor and learner materials such as PowerPoint notes, quizzes, past exam questions and solutions, and short videos are available on the websites of these OERs. I will be using these for my course in the future. In addition to the discussion forum, I also did an online course on OER from the C...

Week 3 Reflection Week 3 was about learning resources and technologies. The focal point in this week's online class was Open Education Resources (OER). From the reading and my own understanding, OER is an important part of online teaching and learning programs in higher education. Pacific Islands can make good use of this as it is mostly available online and free of charge. From a teacher's point of view, it is very helpful to me as I will be able to use the notes, quizzes, questions, and other related materials and modify them to my own needs to teach my students. The students can also make use of this and use them as a reference/ revision guide. I watched the videos on Moodle that were provided by my course coordinator. Through the readings and video guides, I was able to strengthen my knowledge and skills in online learning applications. For example, the presenter in "Reimagining Learning" threw some light on how to break the status quo and how online learning c...

ED403 is a timely unit for educators in higher education institutes as there are a lot of development taking place in the teaching and learning practice in higher education. In the last two weeks I started learning about Technology enabled Learning (TeL) and I have been introduced to some new frameworks such as TPACK and TIM. In addition to this, I have also learn about Community of Inquiry (CoI) through which I was able to enhance my understanding on cognitive presence, teacher presence, social presence. I also found some insightful discussions on session 1 through discussion forum in Moodle.
